What is it?
If you or your friends require regular transport (Daily, Weekly, Monthly), this scheme is designed to let you build capacity (Passenger Numbers) until it is a sustainable transport journey. This means that the number of people paying justify the cost of the vehicle for the journey.
Who uses it or has set up a transport service by using it.
Regular shopping trips to local supermarkets
An elderly keep-fit Club
Regular attendees at a back clinic
Parents to get their children to school
People attending classes at Age Concern in Porter Street
Transport to help a group get to their weekly meetings.
Monthly excursions to places of interest
Why should we Use it?
East Hull Community Transport will supply a vehicle for up to 8 weeks whilst you build up your numbers and the cost is £1 per seat filled. (You therefore do not have to pay for the cost of a minibus and divide this cost by the number of people who turn up!)
Transport can now be arranged at no financial risk to the organiser.
Where can we go and what can we use it for?
The pound per seat is applicable to any journeys within Hull. It can be used for shopping, regular social events or meetings. It must however show potential for building up the people who use the service. The same principle applies if you require a regular trip outside the City, the basic cost will be increased proportionately. The scheme was used at £5 per seat to build a regular excursion programme for a group of sheltered housing residents.
What happens if the numbers don’t increase?
At the end of the trial period the usage and revenue generated are compared to the cost for delivering the service. If the price justifies the cost all is well and good, if they don’t various options are available to try and keep the service going.
