THE STORY SO FAR!  as at 26th  Febrary 2010

Local residents started the project in 2001 with assistance from PRNDC Ltd and ERDF funding. The project looked wider than the resident’s local catchments area to aid sustainability. In 2005 its area of operation expanded to cover all of East Hull with the inclusion of North Carr into its 3 principle services. In February 2005 the project became a social enterprise, left PRNDC Ltd and formed as a limited company, charitable status was obtained and the Management Steering Group became the Board of Directors. The company is now 95% non-grant dependent.
What have we done?

Employment
21 proper jobs have been created.

All residents are entitled to use the (H2H) Home to Hospital Service and in 2005 we included North Carr residents for Door-to-Door pick-ups to the 3 main hospitals, over 3000 residents have used this service.

East Hull Projects 350 local organisations and projects used our services last year.

East Hull Initiatives supported, EHCT has been a major contributor to various East Hull Initiatives and has provided attendance and support to many local events and activities.

Local Schools Have been assisted both in transportation for their school programs and via the “around for a pound scheme” in getting to school.

Getting people into work, we have provided transport that has enabled over 1000 individuals to either access work or vocational training for employment. We currently run an Earlybird Service for nurses and domestics that arrives every day at Castle Hill Hospital at 07.00 and run 2 vehicles per day to assist workers attending Case Training.

The professionalism and quality standards that the company has maintained have been recognized both nationally and by local authorities. This has lead to more contracts that in reality provide the best avenue to future sustainability.

IS IT WORKING!

East Hull residents no longer see transport, once a burning issue, as a major problem. The need for transport has not gone away, residents have developed solutions in conjunction with this company to bridge local shortfalls in transport provision and it is working.
